03 On the meter
What gets measured before a part is named.
- Cavity temperature against the setpoint
- Our own probe on the centre rack through a preheat and two full cycles, written down beside what the panel claims. An oven roasting as though it were fifty degrees cooler is a sensor or a stored offset four times out of five.
- Current on the bake circuit
- A clamp on the element while it is hot, then the relay that feeds it. A dead bake side with a working broiler is either an open element or a relay that has stopped pulling in, and the reading says which before the back panel comes off.
- Hinge tension and the top corner gap
- Spring tension measured on both sides and the gap along the top edge checked cold. A door that will not pull itself shut leaks heat into the cabinet and then shows up as a slow oven on every other test you run.
